Lukoil and Statoil With Winning Bid on West Qurna 2 Field In Iraq

Around 40 companies prequalified for participation in Iraq's second licensing round 11 and 12 December in Baghdad. On the licensing round's second day Lukoil and Statoil secured the winning bid on the gigantic West Qurna 2 field. A total of four bids were delivered for the West Qurna 2 field in the southern part of Iraq.

Sasol Commences Basic Engineering for Tetramerization Technology

Sasol today announced it has begun Basic Engineering for the first commercial installation of its proprietary Tetramerization technology. Jacobs Engineering in Houston was recently awarded the Basic Engineering contract, which is expected to be complete by the third quarter of 2010. Tetramerization, the process of reacting four ethylene molecules to produce one octene molecule, was developed in Sasol's R&D laboratories in South Africa.

Halliburton awarded integrated turnkey drilling contract in South Ghawar. Located approximately 200 kilometers (124 miles) from the city of Dhahran, the Ghawar field is the world's largest oil field and the contract would involve work in Uthmaniyah, Haradh, Hawiyah and Shedgum.
