Europe's Largest Onshore Windfarm Set To Grow Again - ScottishPower Renewables Receives Consent For A Further 39 Turbines At Whitelee
ScottishPower Renewables today given permission by the Scottish Government to develop a second extension at Whitelee Windfarm, near Glasgow, which will see Europe's largest onshore windfarm add a further 39 turbines, increasing overall capacity up to 593MW.

European Investment Bank Support Joint Venture Between National Grid and TenneT to Build Interconnector
European Investment Bank agrees to provide EUR 300m for construction of the BritNed Interconnector, a new electricity transmission cable between the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. The BritNed cable is a 50:50 joint venture, between National Grid and TenneT, who operate the grids.

Scottish and Southern Energy - Joint Venture in Dutch Wind farm Development

KCA DEUTAG Engineering Division, RDS, Awarded StatoilHydro Contract for Veslefrikk Drilling Upgrade Project
StatoilHydro has awarded a concept study to Fabricom AS. Together with drilling design expertise from RDS (the engineering division of KCA DEUTAG), an integrated team, comprising up to 25 personnel, has been set up in RDS' Stockton office in the North East of England to execute the concept study for modification and upgrade of the Veslefrikk drilling facilities.

Visund and Troll Subsea Contracts to Aker Solutions
Aker Solutions awarded two contracts by StatoilHydro to deliver subsea equipment to its Visund and Troll fields in the North Sea, including subsea tree number 100 for Troll. Subsea trees will be manufactured at Aker Solutions' facility in Tranby, Norway, and subsea controls in Aberdeen, UK. Final deliveries will be made Q1 2011.

UK Well Service Contract to Aker Solutions
Aker Solutions subsidiary Aker Qserv Ltd signs contract with BP to provide well services for the energy giant's operations in UK sector of the North Sea. The contract is signed for a period of three years, with two one-year extension options. Aker Qserv, who has enjoyed a working relationship with BP dating back to 2003, will continue as BP's primary supplier of well intervention services out of its base in Aberdeen.

National Grid to Launch Major Public Consultation on Hinkley Point C Connection

Expro awarded multi-million pound contract by Apache North Sea Ltd in the UK North Sea following completion of a competitive tender process. The contract, worth approximately US $7.5million annually, mainly covers work on the Forties field. Fluor Rebuilds Damaged Power Plant for ISAB Energy in Sicily
Fluor Corporation awarded engineering, procurement and construction contract by ISAB Energy (ERG Group) for reconstruction of one of its two 266 megawatt combined cycle gas turbine power trains in Priolo Gargallo, Sicily, Italy. Fluor's Camberley, UK, operations centre has lead in designing the plant to correspond with its original design. Onsite construction resources will utilise local labour.

E.ON Submits Planning Application For Biomass-fired Power Plants
E.ON submitts planning application to Department of Energy and Climate Change for a 150MW biomass-fired energy plant at the Royal Portbury Dock in North Somerset. If granted planning consent, the new development could produce enough power for around 200,000 homes by burning carbon neutral fuels such as wood.

RDS Drilling Awarded Contract for BP Clair Ridge Drilling Facilities Design
RDS, the engineering division of drilling contractor KCA DEUTAG, awarded contract for the Clair Ridge drilling facilities design by BP (who operates on behalf of Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Hess and Shell). The design team was mobilised and commenced work in early June. Initially RDS will provide a team of approximately 20 engineers based in London.
