KBR Win Contract for Ammonia Plant in China

KBR have won a contract to supply ammonia synthesis loop technology to Yunnan Tianan Chemical Company, Ltd., for its 500,000 metric ton per year coal-based ammonia plant located in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.

This is the first contract under which KBR will provide licensing and engineering services directly for the supply of the synthesis loop technology to a large coal-based ammonia plant in China. TACC is owned by Yunnan Yuntianhua Company, Ltd., and Yunnan Provincial Development & Investment Ltd.

"KBR's ammonia technology has superior technical and economic merits compared to other technologies in the market," said Tim Challand, KBR's vice president of Technology. "TACC's selection of KBR further illustrates the Chinese market's acceptance and the performance of our ammonia technology."

In early 2004, KBR successfully completed the Yuntianhua 1500 metric ton per day ammonia plant revamp project located in Shuifu, Yunnan Province, China.
