KBR Subsidiary Granherne Selected for FEED work on the Lianzi Field Development Project

KBR KBR today announced that its consulting subsidiary Granherne has been selected as the contractor by Chevron Overseas (Congo) Limited for the front end engineering and design (FEED) of the Lianzi development project. The Lianzi development is located in a unitized zone which includes portions of the Block 14 License (Republic of Angola) and the Haute Mer Permit (Republic of Congo).

The Lianzi development will be tied back approximately 27 miles to the existing Benguela Belize (BB) host facility offshore Angola. It is located in water depths of 2,700ft to 3,500ft (820m to 1070m) and will include three subsea production wells, three water injection wells with the capability to add one each contingency production and water injection wells.

The FEED work will involve front end engineering and design of the subsea system, connecting pipelines & flowlines, additional new topside equipment for the BB platform, and modifications and tie-ins required to the existing BB facilities. Additionally, the scope of the contract includes assisting Chevron in the development of AFE cost estimates to support project sanction and preparation of the bid packages for the EPCI contract to develop the field.

"Our selection demonstrates Granherne's ability to address the wide ranging scope of the study from deepwater subsea system to the new topside equipment, while addressing the technical challenges of a long subsea tie-back to an operating facility," said Clive Vaughan, Managing Director, Granherne. "We look forward to participating in the effort to develop a field which is of significant interest to the host countries and of strategic interest to Chevron."

Granherne Inc. was selected for the study through a competitive bidding process. Granherne will rely on expertise from its KBR counterparts, and has assembled an experienced team including specialists to address some unique technical challenges. Work on the study commenced in January 2009.

Granherne is a leading front-end engineering consultancy for onshore, offshore and deepwater oil and gas developments and has experience on over 3,000 projects in more than 20 countries.

Granherne has provided services for more than 100 subsea developments, including step out expansions, marginal fields and major subsea projects.
