Petrofac Secures Venture Contract Extension

Petrofac Petrofac has been awarded a £10 million contract extension, until 31 March 2010, with Venture Production plc. The engineering and construction contract extension covers the Kittiwake platform in the North Sea, as well as capex projects for Venture within the Greater Kittiwake Area (GKA). It will be provided through Brownfield, a service line within the Offshore Engineering & Operations (OE&O) business unit.

Kittiwake Brownfield will provide full Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Construction (EPIC) capabilities, consisting of onshore engineering, procurement, offshore construction and commissioning teams for current and upcoming Venture projects. These include the Kittiwake emergency shutdown (ESD) upgrade, the potential Christian subsea tieback and continued management and safe delivery of major Venture shutdowns such as the main Kittiwake shutdown, scheduled for August 2009.

The Brownfield team has completed a number of projects for Venture during the last three years including delivery of a GKA Export System and a number of subsea tiebacks, and Venture's decision was based on this successful track record.

Greg McKenna, head of supply chain for Venture Production commented: "We worked with Brownfield to meet the delivery expectations set out at the start of this contract and it seemed natural to continue the relationship with what is clearly a responsive and cost-conscious team. We now have a solid foundation upon which to progress this contract and we look forward to continuing to work with Brownfield."

David Bannerman, business manager, Brownfield for the Venture contract said: "We are delighted to be continuing the strong working relationship we have with Venture. This contract extension with a long-standing customer enables OE&O to share in Venture's growth within the established GKA."
