KCA DEUTAG Engineering Division, RDS, Awarded StatoilHydro Contract for Veslefrikk Drilling Upgrade Project
StatoilHydro has awarded a concept study to Fabricom AS. Together with drilling design expertise from RDS (the engineering division of KCA DEUTAG), an integrated team, comprising up to 25 personnel, has been set up in RDS' Stockton office in the North East of England to execute the concept study for modification and upgrade of the Veslefrikk drilling facilities.
The installation is located in Block 30/3 of the North Sea and has been in operation since 1989. It comprises a semi-submersible structure, Veslefrikk B, tied to a fixed steel wellhead platform Veslefrikk A, which will be the focus of these drilling facility upgrades which are designed to significantly extend the operating life.
"This is a strategically important project for RDS' Norwegian operation and gives the Fabricom / RDS partnership the opportunity to demonstrate their complimentary skills", said Hamish Ritchie, RDS General Manager.
