President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Jonathan Goodluck Meets with Eni CEO Paolo Scaroni

ENI Logo The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Jonathan Ebele Goodluck, met recently in Abuja with Eni CEO, Paolo Scaroni, to discuss the strategies in the Nigerian hydrocarbon sector within the current international energy environment.

At the meeting, which was conducted in a spirit of cordiality and co-operation, a particular focus has been made on the development of the power generation in the country through the use of associated natural gas, thus avoiding the gas flaring practice. In this activity, Eni in joint venture with the Nigerian national companies, contributes over 15% of the power capacity of the country.

Moreover, they discussed Eni's role in the LNG production sector which contributes to the growth and development of the Delta regions as well as the company's commitment to further develop the exploration and production activities in the country.

Eni has been operating in Nigeria for almost 50 years with interests in various onshore and offshore blocks, and an equity production averaging 165,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2010.
