BP Contracts for KBR and Wood Group
BP has awarded contracts for engineering, maintenance and modifications to KBR and the Wood Group worth more than £500m over nine years.
KBR is to be awarded a large share including the engineering, modifications and maintenance services for Clair, Harding, Miller, Andrew and Southern North Sea assets. This will be a three year contract with options for 3 x 2 year extensions. Wood Group who have retained a large part of the work will be working on six installations plus the Sullom Voe terminal. AMEC loses out.
BP stated they do not expect any job losses as a result of these contracts. KBR and Wood Group had given assurances that Tupe (transfer of undertakings protection of employment) regulations would apply.
Wood Group has around 500 staff and contractors involved in the BP work and this figure should remain unchanged. Some of its people will transfer across to KBR, while others will join it from AMEC. Around 400 Amec workers are affected, with the majority of them going to KBR.
