Jacobs Wins INEOS Fluor Contract
Jacobs has been selected by INEOS Fluor to provide project management, construction management, engineering, and procurement services for the expansion of KLEA 125 (HFC 125 refrigerant) production at INEOS Fluor's Runcorn facility in England. INEOS Fluor is planning to increase production capacity to around 14,000 tons in response to demand for alternatives to hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) refrigerants.
KLEA 125 has been manufactured on a smaller multi-product facility at INEOS Fluor's Runcorn facility. Its use is vital as a component in many non-flammable, energy efficient refrigerants, designed to replace CFCs and HCFCs that are being phased out under the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. Following this investment the unit will be dedicated to HFC 125 production.
The first phase of the expansion plan is due for completion in 2005.
