Fire on Forties Charlie Brought Under Control
Investigations have begun into the cause of a fire on the Forties Charlie oil platform. Apache, the owners of the platform, said an electrical fire had broken out in an unmanned control room on the platform, 140 miles north east of Aberdeen.
Workers on Forties Charlie were called to muster at about 0430 on Tuesday, but were stood down two hours later when the fire was put out. No-one was injured in the incident as the platform was already shut down when the fire broke out.
Apache commented the incident involved an electrical fire in the unmanned control room located on the natural gas liquids processing unit, resulting in the platform going to muster stations and a fire team mobilised. The fire was quickly brought under control and the damage contained within the control room itself.
