Power Failure on BP Clair
The new BP Clair North Sea installation lost full power on Wednesday evening after an electrical fault affected the main generator. No one was injured or evacuated, but it led to partial loss of power overnight. The platform is not due to go into production until early next year.
A BP spokesperson said back-up power enabled work on the platform to continue. It is understood power was back up and running on Thursday. There are 100 workers on the platform and another 300 on the accommodation vessel, Port Reval, situated alongside the installation. All are carrying out hook-up and commissioning work.
