Technip Awarded EPC Contract for Arzew Refinery
Technip's engineering centre in Rome will carry out the engineering consultancy contract, which covers conceptual design, licensors' selection, basic design, front-end design, engineering procurement and construction contractors' selection and coordination as well as the definition of the expansion to comply with the new regulations. The construction phase is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2009. The revamping and expansion of the Arzew Refinery is part of Algeria's important program of modernization of the four main refineries in Arzew, Skikda, Algiers and Hassi Messaoud. Technip has been awarded by NAFTEC, Algeria's National Oil Refining Company, an engineering consultancy contract worth approximately €14million for the revamping and expansion of their Refinery in Arzew (Algeria). Refinery modernization covers the overall instrumentation and electrical systems. The expansion aims at improving fuel specification in line with 2009 European regulations.
