Franklin + Andrews Appointed on European Nuclear Facility

Franklin + Andrews has been appointed by the Finnish electric utility company Teollisuuden Voima Oy (TVO) as contract consultants on the construction of Europe's first new build nuclear reactor facility – Olkiluoto 3 - for more than a decade.

Olkiluoto 3 will be the third power plant unit to be built on the west coast of Finland and will generate approximately 1600 MW of electrical output and 4300 MW of thermal power. Excavation works started on site in February 2004 and energy production is due to start in 2009, producing up to 10% of Finland's electricity requirements. The power station will reduce Finland's dependence on electricity imports and secure a stable and predictable electricity price, whilst contributing to Finland's Kyoto commitments.

Project work is currently taking place in 26 different countries including Belgium, Canada, Finland, Holland, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, UK and the USA.

The Framatome ANP and Siemens consortium have entered into a fixed price turn-key contract with Teollisuuden Voima Oy (TVO) of Finland. Franklin + Andrews has been appointed by TVO to work with them in the administration of the consortium agreement.
