Jacobs Receives U.S. Air Force Contract
A Jacobs Engineering Group subsidiary company has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Air Force (USAF) to provide engineering and construction services for the Air Force, the Department of Defense, and other Federal agencies worldwide.
The indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity Heavy Engineering Repair and Construction (HERC) contract was awarded by the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) at Brooks City-Base, Texas. The USAF made multiple awards under this procurement and estimates the value of the five- year contracts, with three one-year option periods and an additional three years to complete performance, at $6 billion total for all contracts awarded with the potential to increase up to $15 billion.
Under the HERC contract, Jacobs will provide engineering and construction management services to support military construction and operations and maintenance worldwide. As AFCEE announced, "Requirements under HERC will encompass the full range of methods and technologies supporting activities necessary to design and construct new facilities and infrastructure, and remodel and upgrade existing facilities and infrastructure. Requirements may include design, construction, demolition, repair, and emergency response tasks."
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Michael Higgins stated, "Jacobs brings extensive experience and knowledge in military facility and infrastructure projects. Much of that experience has been gained providing engineering construction services to AFCEE and its customers over the past 14 years. We are delighted to have the opportunity to continue this successful relationship under HERC."
