Jacobs Logo

Jacobs Engineering Group has announced that a Canadian subsidiary company received a contract to provide direct hire construction services at Suncor's oil sands facility in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada.

Officials did not disclose the value of the piping completion project, but the scope of work encompasses approximately 750,000 hours of field labour.

The work consists of a planning phase, followed by the fabrication and installation of required tie-ins and interconnecting piping. A total of 650 tie-in points and the associated interconnecting piping is required to connect the existing Plant 52 into the new Millennium Coker Unit facility. Planning and mobilization have commenced and physical construction is expected to be completed in March 2007.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Greg Landry, stated, "We have provided ongoing maintenance and turnaround services at Suncor's Fort McMurray site since 1965. This award represents a strategic opportunity for us to demonstrate our construction capabilities and provide added value to Suncor in the area of major project construction."
