Jacobs Receives Synenco Contract

Jacobs LogoA Jacobs Engineering Group subsidiary has received a contract from the Northern Lights Partnership (a joint venture of Synenco Energy and SinoCanada Petroleum Corporation, a subsidiary of Sinopec Group) to provide engineering and procurement services on the upgrader area of the Northern Lights Project in Alberta, Canada.

The Northern Lights Project is an oil sands mining, bitumen extraction, and upgrading facility. Jacobs is working with Synenco to minimize natural gas use and drive down emissions by developing an upgrader process configuration that engages proven technology and an environmentally conscious design featuring gasification. Upon completion of the phased development for this full conversion upgrader, Northern Lights will produce a daily output of 100,000 barrels of light, sweet synthetic crude oil for 30 years - a total of 1.09 billion barrels of oil.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Greg Landry stated, "We are pleased to provide upgrader engineering services to support the Northern Lights Partnership. We plan to add value to the partnership by leveraging our modular design and fabrication capabilities as well as our high-value design centers in Asia. We are also looking forward to working with Sinopec Engineering Inc. to add further value through their design resources."
