Total Investment in French Gas Projects
Total is currently involved in three major gas projects in France and plans to invest 550 million over the next five years.
Total is participating in the construction of the new Fos Cavaou LNG terminal in southern France which has a capacity of 8.25 billion cubic metres per year.
Total also expects to double the capacity of the Artere de Guyenne pipeline, which will take gas from Fos Cavaou to Lussagnet in the southwest of France.
Total is also applying for permission to expand the Lussagnet natural gas storage facility to 3.5 billion cubic meters from 2.4 billion cubic meters.
Total announced the project investments during the inauguration of the new Euskadour natural gas interconnector pipeline which will transport 500 million cubic meters of gas a year between Spain and France. Construction of the pipeline by Total Infrastructures Gaz France (TIGF), a Total subsidiary, and Naturgas Energia began in November 2004 and was completed in late 2005.
