Acergy UK Campus Development Deal in Aberdeen

Acergy LogoAcergy UK has agreed a deal with The Stewart Milne Group for a multi-million pound campus development in the prestigious Westhill Business Park on the outskirts of Aberdeen.

Acergy, a seabed-to-surface engineering and construction contractor for the global oil and gas industry, employs around 500 personnel at its current base in Bucksburn, Aberdeen. The company will move and expand into its own specially designed multi-purpose campus with potential to house 800 staff.

In line with the relocation, Acergy is currently looking to recruit an additional 100 staff over the next two years.

Planning permission for the complex was secured from Aberdeenshire Council earlier this month. Building work is expected to begin in November this year, with entry in early 2008.

The 17-acre site will house a modern office building on three levels. The design of the office areas will be centred round two impressive glass atriums with a restaurant and coffee bar located within the heart of the building.

A workshop, complete with external yard, will also be built, which will be significantly larger than the current facility at Bucksburn and will house the company's growing team of expert technicians and maintenance staff dedicated to designing and developing the latest subsea technology.

Acergy will be the first subsea company in Scotland to have its own leisure complex for the full use of its employees and families. Staff will be able to enjoy two squash courts, a multi-purpose gym and weights room. The impressive games hall is capable of hosting a five-a-side football tournament and aerobic classes and will also be used for all staff meetings with seating capacity for 600. Acergy's deputy regional vice president, Northern Europe and Canada, Tim Sheehan said: "The establishment of an enviable new base at Westhill sends a clear message of Acergy's commitment to the North Sea and the local economy and is part of Acergy¹s strategic intent to provide our staff and prospective employees with a first class working and leisure environment."

"The exciting developments will be a major milestone in the creation of a world class engineering function for Acergy. We want our staff and clients to feel as confident as we do about the future growth of the company and our long-term investment in the industry."
