Technip Awarded Diesel Oil Hydrosulphurization Unit Contract
Technip has been awarded a contract worth approximately Euro 67 million by PKN ORLEN S.A. for the construction of a new diesel oil hydrodesulphurization(*) unit in its refinery in Plock, in the center of Poland.
Technip's operations and engineering centre in Rome will execute the project that includes licence, basic and detail engineering, procurement and supply of equipment and materials, supervision of construction, precommissioning and commissioning, start-up and test runs. Services, materials and equipment supply will be delivered on a lump sum basis; activities at site will be charged on a reimbursable basis.
The construction of the unit is scheduled to be completed in June 2009.
The new unit, based on the "Albemarle ultra deep HDS" process, will produce 260 tons/hour of high purity diesel oil (with a maximum of 10 ppmwt of sulphur). It will be one of the largest of its kind.
The project, which also includes a wild naphtha stripping unit and a gas amine-treating/regeneration unit, will enable the Plock refinery to increase the production of high purity diesel oil in compliance with the European norm.
(*) Hydrodesulphurization is a catalytic refining technology consisting in extracting sulphur contained in a petroleum product either to protect downstream unit catalysts or to maintain sulphur content at the level prescribed by the European norm intended to reduce transportation-related air pollution.
