Wood Group Engineering (North Sea) Wins Statoil Contract
Wood Group Engineering (North Sea), (WGENS) a subsidiary of international energy services company, John Wood Group PLC ("Wood Group"), has been awarded a contract from Statoil ASA for the supply of feasibility and conceptual studies for the topsides element of the Trestakk subsea field development that is expected to be tied into the Åsgard facility. WGENS is also to provide these studies for the Morvin subsea development that may be tied into either the Åsgard or Kristin facilities.
For the contract, valued at approximately £2 million, Wood Group will evaluate options for the topsides modifications on the Åsgard A and Kristin floating production facilities and verify the alternatives required for concept selection. Wood Group aims to prepare the selected concept to the required level for full project sanction. Involving a number of challenges in high pressure/high temperature systems, the contract award recognises WGENS' topsides experience in similar conditions in the UK sector.
Alex West, Director, Wood Group Engineering & Production Facilities, Middle East, Europe & North Africa, said, "This contract boosts our ability to develop strategic capabilities in providing studies that meet the standards of Norwegian operators. Our team has provided Statoil with studies for its Heidrun platform and has established a good rapport with its project and operations team. The studies and options, if exercised, will provide continuity of employment and allow the current team to grow to approximately 50 people."
