AMEC Wins Support Services Contract in Saudi Arabia
AMEC has been awarded a five year support services contract by Saudi Aramco to support its massive development programme in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is an important strategic step providing a significant bridgehead from which AMEC will look to grow further select opportunities within Saudi Arabia.
AMEC's local subsidiary company, King Wilkinson Saudi Arabia Ltd, will provide initially up to 250 technical and administration personnel and this total may increase over time.
Craig Muir, Regional Director of AMEC's Natural Resources division, said
"AMEC and King Wilkinson have been operating in Saudi Arabia for a significant number of years. Winning this contract is thanks in no small part to our approach to providing a significant and growing number of Saudi nationals to both manage and deliver the local services required under this type of contract."
Saudi Country Manager Adil Al Asfoor added: "Saudi Aramco is clearly an important client for us in King Wilkinson. We have worked for them continuously for over 30 years. This project provides a further 5 years of work for us and we expect, as a minimum, to grow the number of personnel employed to at least 250, in the first 12 months of the contract. This project secures a base on which to grow AMEC's other skills, including Engineering and PMC services. And in turn demonstrate to our regional clients that we are able to support additional planned future growth."
AMEC's Natural Resources business is a leading provider of total life-of-asset services to customers in the upstream and downstream oil and gas sectors, petrochemicals, pipelines and mining industries, with a strong reputation for balancing global excellence with local delivery.
