AMEC will be the design company for the newly completed terminal, providing it with essential engineering support to ensure round-the-clock delivery of gas into the national transmission system. AMEC's scope of work includes engineering conceptual design, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning and project management services.

AMEC will be working in collaboration with Black and Veatch Ltd, with whom it has a strategic partnering agreement and who will provide specialist LNG knowledge.

Neil Bruce, Chief Operating Officer of Natural Resources and Power & Process division said:

"This is a significant award for AMEC and gives us the opportunity to build on our existing LNG experience while delivering reliability, efficiency and excellence for our client. It also reinforces our commitment to helping to secure the UK's future energy supply."

Ken Hurley, Terminal Engineer at South Hook, said:

"The South Hook Terminal is a major contributor to the UK's security and diversity of energy supply and this is a key contract award. As one of the leading oil and gas engineering service providers we are pleased to welcome AMEC as a partner in supporting our delivery of gas to the UK."

AMEC will set up a site-based team at the Terminal in Milford Haven with operational and management support from AMEC's London, UK office and Black and Veatch in Kansas, US.

The South Hook Terminal has a significant positive impact on the local economy by offering local employment opportunities and by engaging many companies which are part of the Terminal supply chain.
