Scottish and Southern Energy, in joint venture with Statoil (U.K.) Ltd, seek consent to increase the storage capacity at the new Aldbrough Gas Storage facility in Yorkshire. SSE and Statoil (U.K.) Ltd have acquired land adjacent to the existing Aldbrough site and consent is being sought from East Riding of Yorkshire Council to develop a further nine gas storage caverns at the facility, which is currently under development.

BP awards contract to Heerema Marine Contractors for offshore removal and onshore recycling and disposal of North West Hutton installation, located some 130km north east of the Shetland Islands. Heerema will be the prime contractor for this work which will also involve a range of specialist subsea, engineering, and waste handling companies.
E.ON UK submits scoping statement to statutory consultees over its plans to build two new 800MW supercritical units at its Kingsnorth coal-fired power station in Kent. The application is for what could be the UK's first highly efficient supercritical coal-fired units, which will reduce carbon emissions by almost two million tonnes a year compared to the existing units if built.
Production Services Network (PSN) receives new contract award for the BP Dimlington Onshore Compression and Terminal Rationalisation Project Front End Design (FEED). This project is an extension to the existing BP Engineering Modifications and Maintenance (EMM) Contract awarded to PSN in 2004.
