| AMEC JV Appointed Preferred Bidder for National Grid Contract | 01/11/2006 |
Joint-venture between AMEC, Babcock International and Mott MacDonald, appointed by National Grid as preferred partner for the West Overhead Lines and Cable Alliance, which will carry out the upgrade of overhead power lines and underground cables across the western half of England and all of Wales over the next five years.  |
| E.ON UK Receives DTI Approval to Build New CCGT | 03/11/2006 |
E.ON UK, the company that runs Powergen, receives approval from UK Department of Trade and Industry to build new CCGT at site of its existing Grain oil-fired station in Kent. Construction on the £350m gas-fired station could start as early as next year, with electricity generation expected in 2009.  |
| Venture Production to Construct New North Sea Oil Pipeline | 06/11/2006 |
Venture Production states intention to build and operate new 33 km pipeline that will export oil produced from the Greater Kittiwake Area. At present there are four fields exporting oil via tanker from the Venture-operated Kittiwake platform and the new 10 inch pipeline will provide a fixed link between this platform and the existing Forties Pipeline System.  |
| Centrica Acquires Option in UK's First Complete Clean Coal Project | 09/11/2006 |
Centrica plc acquires option to participate in what would be the UK's first complete clean coal power generation project for a total of £7.15 million. The agreement, with Progressive Energy Limited, provides Centrica with an 85 per cent interest in development company Coastal Energy Limited, which will seek full consents for the right to construct a new clean coal power station in Teesside, UK.  |
| Petrofac Awarded Strasshof Development FEED | 09/11/2006 |
Petrofac awarded US$5 million contract by OMV Austria Exploration & Production GmbH (OMV Austria), a subsidiary of OMV Aktiengesellschaft, to carry out two parallel front-end engineering and design (FEED) studies for the development of the Strasshof gas field, near Vienna, Austria. The project, being executed from Petrofac's Woking office, is due for completion in early 2007 and is the first time that Petrofac has carried out FEED work on behalf of OMV Austria.  |
| AMEC Wins Defence Decommissioning Contract | 22/11/2006 |
AMEC wins contract to clean up and demolish a number of redundant research facilities on the AWE site at Aldermaston in Berkshire. The highly-specialised decommissioning work will be completed by AMEC's nuclear consultancy AMEC NNC. The two-year programme begins with a safety case and risk assessment that will last for up to eight months before the treatment of waste and final demolishing of the buildings.  |
| E.ON UK Applies To Build Haswell Moor Wind Farm | 24/11/2006 |
E.ON UK, the company that runs Powergen, applies to Easington District Council for permission to build £12.5m wind farm west of Haswell village. Application calls for five 2.5MW turbines to be built on farmland near the village. Turbines would be up to 110m to tip of the highest blade and could produce power for around 7,000 homes.  |
| Petrofac Wins Consecutive Gas Plant Contract In Egypt | 28/11/2006 |
Petrofac awarded additional lump sum engineering, procurement and construction scope by Khalda Petroleum Company (KPC) to build its fourth gas processing train at Salam area in Egypt's Western Desert. This second consecutive train, awarded to Petrofac by KPC during November, increases the Khalda contract from US$200 million to a total of US$375 million.  |
| Petrofac Awarded Irish Sea Duty Holder Contract | 28/11/2006 |
Petrofac take over duty holder responsibilities for Irish Sea Pioneer (ISP) for BHP Billiton in the Liverpool Bay Development effective 1 December 2006. Petrofac will employ all of the offshore crew and onshore staff in a contract worth approximately £3 million per annum.  |
| Wood Group Engineering (North Sea) Wins Statoil Contract | 29/11/2006 |
Wood Group Engineering (North Sea) awarded contract from Statoil ASA for supply of feasibility and conceptual studies for topsides element of the Trestakk subsea field development expected to be tied into the Åsgard facility. WGENS is also to provide these studies for the Morvin subsea development that may be tied into either the Åsgard or Kristin facilities.  |
| E.ON To Build U.K.'s Largest Offshore Wind Farm | 07/12/2006 |
At the beginning of next year, construction of Robin Rigg, the U.K.'s largest offshore wind farm with an aggregate capacity of 180 megawatts, will start. E.ON UK plans to build 60 three-megawatt turbines to be sited off the coast of Scotland. Robin Rigg is expected to enter service in early 2009 and will produce approximately 550 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.  |
| Petrofac Awarded Duty Holder Contract for Camelot Platform | 14/12/2006 |
Petrofac takes over duty holder responsibilities for gas-producing Camelot platform, following transfer of ownership from Mobil North Sea Limited, an affiliate of Exxon Mobil Corporation, to Energy Resource Technology (UK) Ltd (ERT).  |
| Abbot Wins Contracts in North and West Africa | 19/12/2006 |
Abbot Group's operating subsidiary, KCA DEUTAG, awarded contracts worth more than US$360million in North and West Africa, including its 350 feet rated jack-up rig Neptune, which is currently being refurbished, and its two new Nomad Class land rigs being built by its subsidiary Bentec.  |
| Scottish & Southern Energy Agreements Completed for Marchwood Power Ltd Joint Venture | 29/12/2006 |
Scottish and Southern Energy plc ("SSE") and ESBI (Ireland's ESB International) complete all financial and legal agreements in respect of their 50:50 joint venture, Marchwood Power Ltd. This will allow construction work on the venture's new 840MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant in Southampton to begin early in 2007. The plant is expected to be constructed and in commercial operation in time for the winter of 2009/10.  |
